#0012 – Wedgits

Why is it so difficult to describe Wedgits? I guess it is because they are so unique. They are simultaneously square and wedge-shaped. They stack simply as orderly pyramids or can be wedged into elaborate creations. So easy a baby can successfully stack them in minutes, yet so complex that adults are still playing with them days later.

Behind The Scenes

  • Devyn’s baby sister Hayden stole the show this week with her huge grin!
  • Grandpa also makes a cameo appearance. He used Wedgits during therapy time after his stroke, and as you can see, was pretty tickled with his accomplishments.
  • Hayden loves seeing babies, and in the closing clip her excitement is because she caught a glimpse of herself in the video camera, and was delighted!

Baby Hayden with Wee Wedgits

From Our Store:

Wedgits have long been a hit in the homeschool arena, to say nothing of their use in schools, hospitals, and occupational therapy centers across five continents. As an open-ended manipulative, Wedgits have always had kid-appeal because the rainbow-colored blocks seem to spontaneously align themselves in a myriad of forms…” Buy Wedgits Now Here!

#0011 – Little Sorting Caterpillar

We spent hours comparing shape sorters; have you ever considered just how many are out there? Some only had a few pieces, some felt yucky or fragile right out of the box, while others were just plain unattractive. The Little Sorting Caterpillar was a clear winner, because in addition to being well-built of beautiful wood and having an amazing 13 pieces The Little Shape Sorting Caterpillar offers different levels of play. With so many different components this is truly a tool that grows with your child for hours of use. Of course, it is also sturdy enough to be passed on to countless siblings when your toddler is done with it – or turn it over to the church nursery!

Behind The Scenes

  • We are delighted to have friends who let us demo products with their children. Devyn is 2, isn’t she sweet? Watch for more video of her and her sister Hayden in weeks to come.
  • This is taken from our soon-to-be-announced Toddler Curriculum. The whole thing will be arriving on our site in the next two weeks.

Little Sorting Caterpillar

From Our Store:

“Like all shape sorters, the friendly-faced Shape Sorting Caterpillar will teach your child to observe the difference between several shapes and fit them into their respective holes. But it is the ingenious addition of the removable pegs that expands the life of this puzzle…” Buy The Little Sorting Caterpillar Now Here!

#0008 – Testing New Products for Timberdoodle’s Summer 2010 Catalog

Dozens of products must be evaluated before we print our 2010 Curriculum Catalog. Watch this video to get a glimpse of the review process here at Timberdoodle. Best of all, 4 young relatives ranging in age from nearly 2 to 7 explored, experimented, and tested a wide array of exciting new products from construction to music to scooters and more!

Check back in April to see how many of these products make it onto our website. Better yet, sign up for our free catalog and stay in the loop: http://www.timberdoodle.com/FreeCatalog

Behind The Scenes

  • We were delighted when our gracious relatives loaned us their girls for the afternoon. The session went way beyond any of our expectations and everyone enjoyed the time!
  • Watching the children play was very insightful, especially since they have a nice wide range of personalities, ages, and interests. (It would have been lovely to have boys involved too, but the one brother was down for a nap… Oh well!)
  • There were so many cute moments and lots of helpful ‘real-life’ exploring and experimenting. In fact, we expect you to see more of these kids on future vodcasts  as we demo and explain the products that passed muster.
